Contemporary extension in an existing garden suburb
In Winterslag West, the intervention respects the home’s original character and the applicable zoning plan (BPA). Siting, building depth and façade retention follow the regulations closely, while carefully placed accents add the comfort of today.
The extension appears as a compact volume, subtly slid into the existing building on the garden side. A transparent language and a glazed junction keep the main volume legible, allowing old and new to meet in a calm, harmonious whole.
Materiality and detailing reinforce that balance: a white-painted render for the upper level, a light-grey base, and refined external joinery in grey aluminium. In the existing volume, the timber windows were renewed while preserving their original profiles.
A renewed reading of the living programme strengthens the bond between house and garden. With its east–west orientation and surrounding green zones, outdoor life becomes an integral part of the daily experience.
